Abstract

The influence of contrast in the interpretation ability of the artificially made periodontal lesions of 2 and 3 mm size in digital subtraction radiography was studied and the followings were obtained:
1. The same thickness of the step wedges could have statistically different gray levels according to the size of the steps in the sarne and different radiographs.
2. The ability to detect the artificial periodontal lesions was better in the digital subtraction radiography than in the conventional and digital radiographies and the contrast correction of the digital subtraction image didn¢¥t have any effct on its interpretation ability.
3. The mean gray levels for correction in the digital subtraction images was 5.74+4.49.
